The University of East Anglia is the of the country’s top universities, with a long-established international reputation in literary studies.
UEA wanted to encourage more applications to their literature course through a university promo film with a difference – something which would raise the profile of the course and answer the question ‘why study literature at UEA’, by plunging the viewer into a discussion about literature itself.
We worked with the Literature department to come up with a series of quotations from great writers on the theme of ‘Where Literature Lives’, then assembled a talented group of their students to film their discussions on the theme. We then brought fragments of their conversations to life through animation and footage of UEA’s archive material, inspired by the titles from Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s ‘Delicatessen’ and Guy Ritchie’s ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
