Team building and motivation? Bruizer’s out-of-this-world concept was to get staff to work together to send a UBS piggy bank into space.
The time-pressured project (it needed to be complete in time for a UBS conference) included building the rig to hold the airborne camera and the piggy bank, fitting a radio tracker and parachute (so that the rig didn’t cause injury when it came down) securing the appropriate NOTAM (an advisory Notice to Airmen of potential hazards in airspace), weather-proofing the system so that it wasn’t damaged by freezing altitudes, and positioning the other three cameras so that the piggy’s flight could be recorded from underneath, alongside and above.
The UBS Space Race piggy bank reached an out-of the-atmosphere 33K metres, securing the client’s ambition to be the first bank in space.
