GOOD FOOD DESERVES…
April 27, 2017
Good food deserves… not just Lurpak, but great film too! With eating and drinking on the mind recently (even more so than usual, that is!) as we edited together our food & drink showreel, we thought we’d pull together some of our favourite food ads. We always get excited about working with food brands here at Bruizer, and these are just a few of the different approaches we think are great when it comes to video marketing for food & drink.
LURPAK – GOOD PROPER FOOD
Lurpak’s ads feel less polished and a bit more real than a lot of food commercials. They are still brilliantly shot and cut, and full of those tantalising M&S-esque foodie close ups – but it looks like food we could cook ourselves, and we like that (almost as much as we like Lurpak)! A killer voiceover and great sound design gives an epic feel. Our take on it? It’s the classic food ad, but real and hard-hitting.
SAINSBURY’S – WASTE LESS SAVE MORE
This series of online videos from Sainsbury’s featuring various hilarious pieces of animated food, including an avocado who thinks she needs to ‘lose a stone’, and bananas who party too hard, is a great example of short, snackable, brand-building content which is actually useful for people too! It ties in with the supermarket’s current tagline – ‘live well for less’ – as well as providing handy tips which are bound to tickle you!
HEINZ – WIENER STAMPEDE
A whole field of sausage dogs? Dressed as hot dogs, you say? Count us in! We love the visual gag of this ad from Heinz, we love the velvety ears flapping in slow motion, and we love the song choice. Cute animals are a bit of a no-brainer, especially when used in a clever way like this advert.
CHIPOTLE – BACK TO THE START
Chipotle are very good at investing in great storytelling with their digital content, their films are often delivered in the form of gorgeous 3D animation, or traditional stop frame techniques as this one is. A fresh cover of the well-known Coldplay song ties in perfectly with the film’s messaging, as do the painstaking animation techniques you can see are behind it. We never knew we could be so affected by animated pigs!
ORANGINA – C’EST SHOOK
Autumn de Wilde is the queen of quirkiness to Wes Anderson’s king, and it seems she was the perfect choice to direct this beautifully designed advert for Orangina’s UK relaunch. The film’s tone seems to capture a quintessential Frenchness, making a bold statement about the drink’s heritage, with a strong tagline and great use of the brand’s complementary colour scheme.
