Bruizer Top 10: Binge-worthy Shows

If you’ve suddenly got time on your hands during this crazy time, it’s likely you’ll need more than a few shows to binge-watch! Here’s our top 10 that the Bruizer team highly recommend…

1. Line of Duty

BBC iPlayer – 5 seasons

If you love a crime mystery, the BBC’s Line of Duty is one not to miss. We follow DS Steve Arnott as he is transferred to the police anti-corruption unit after the death of a man in a mistaken shooting during a counter-terrorist operation. As we dive deeper into the hunt for the series long villain, ‘H’, the team uncover more and more bent coppers and take us on the ride with them.

2. Westworld

Sky – 3 seasons

We’ll try not to give too much away but this is definitely one of the best ‘big-budget’ TV shows of recent times. Inspired by the 1973 film of the same name, Westworld is a science fiction series set in a wild west theme park where humans can live out their fantasies with life-like androids (yes, really!) With the likes of Sir Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris and Thandie Newton, you’ll be safe hands as you sit back and enjoy this one!

3. Man in the High Castle

Amazon Prime – 4 seasons

Set in a dystopian America dominated by Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, a young woman discovers a mysterious film that may hold the key to toppling the totalitarian regimes. This really is a must watch that draws you into an alternate world and as the show is now finished, you can watch from start to finish – hurrah!

4. The Office

Netflix – 2 seasons + Christmas special

Ricky Gervais is like marmite; you either love him or hate him. So we couldn’t blame you if decide to give this one a miss, but if you’ve never seen any of his shows before, and with only 2 seasons, The Office is the one to watch. Anyone who has worked in an office environment is sure to recognise at least 1 of the characters!

5. The Expanse

Amazon Prime – 4 seasons

Love sci-fi? Love anything space related? You’re going to love The Expanse! Set 200 years in the future in a solar system that is fully colonized, we follow a detective searching for a missing young woman and an ice freight captain who witnesses an attack on his vessel by a ship from Mars. As relations between Earth, Mars and The Belt begin to suffer, United Nations work to prevent an interstellar war breaking out.

6. Race Across the World

BBC iPlayer – 2 seasons

A travel competition like no other! In a frenetic race across the world, travellers can choose any route they like – but no flights or smartphones allowed and only £1300 to get them there. 5 teams compete to be the first to arrive at their final destination in Singapore. Who will get there first?

7. Spooks

BBC iPlayer – 10 seasons

If you can get past it looking a little dated in the early seasons compared to other shows in the government agency genre (it was first released in 2003) Spooks is a highlight of a show from the BBC. The series follows British MI-5 agents as they battle terrorists and keep Britain safe. With 6 to 10 episodes per season, this will keep you going for at least a week!

8. Mindhunter

Netflix – 2 seasons

If you’re a fan of the American crime show Criminal Minds, which is based around the Behavioural Analyst Unit (BAU) you must watch Mindhunter. The Netflix original is set in the 1970’s and focusses on the origins of the BAU. Two FBI agents begin to interview killers to learn why they do what they do and find out what makes them tick!

9. American Horror Story

Netflix – 8 seasons

American Horror Story is a show like to other. It will make you jump, want to hide behind the sofa and even give you the odd laugh, but if you have a guilty pleasure for horror, this is the show for you! AHS is an anthology series centering on different characters and locations, including a house with a murderous past, an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show circus, a haunted hotel, a possessed farmhouse, a cult, the apocalypse, and a slasher summer camp. Although some of the same actors are cast throughout the series, each season is a stand-alone story so you can watch whichever theme takes your fancy!

10. Black Mirror

Netflix – 5 seasons

Set in a world not too far in the future, Black Mirror shows the impact that technology may have on us. Every episode is set in a slightly different reality with characters combating unique technologies. What if the amount of ‘likes’ you get actually affected if you could get a taxi, or within the Alexa in your kitchen there is real woman talking to you? Each episode is a standalone story so you can pick and choose what you would like to watch, but once you’ve watched one, we’re sure you’ll be staying tuned for the next one!
