AN ENGAGEMENT FROM THE EDGE
February 13, 2014
When a friend tells you he is going to propose to his girlfriend from space, first you ignore him, then you laugh at him, then you fight him, and then he wins, as with the case of Camera Operator Richard Ing.
Richard decided his beautiful girlfriend Abbey deserved something special for her proposal, and by special he meant sending her Grandmother’s treasured engagement ring 100,000 feet into the earths atmosphere with nothing but a balloon and a wooden box. And, true cameraman that he is, making a video production out of it of course. But when all is said and done, we have to admit, he certainly has style.
Richard featured many of Abbey’s family in the film without ever showing their faces and true gentleman, he also included a birds-eye shot of Abbey’s sister’s cleavage. Richard then booked a private cinema viewing for all of Abbeys friends and family. When Abbey arrived she had no idea what was going on, and the look on her face when she saw the ring on the screen was worth all the late nights!
Shot on the ARRI Alexa, and 5 Go-Pros, you can watch the ending, or the whole film for yourself here.
